Devilman is a 1972 manga series written and illustrated by Go Nagai, it was loosely adapted into an anime series within the same year. Nagai considers the series to be his magnum opus. Many elements from Devilman have been seen in the Cutie Honey franchise, most often one or two of the main characters.

In Cutie HoneyEdit

  • Devilman Lady appeared in Go Nagai's crossover manga Devilman Lady vs Cutie Honey where Jun Fudo is sent by Lan Asuka to locate a Devil Beast in Honey's school encountering Honey as Cutey Honey.
  • The character Seiji Hayami from Devilman Lady is a reference to the character of the same name from Cutey Honey, at one point he is seen praying to his father who looked just like Seiji from Cutey Honey.
  • In Cutie Honey 90s, Tarantula Claw is based on the demon Damon from the Devilman anime, even their powers are near enough the same.
  • To coincide with the live action films of both Devilman and Cutie Honey, a special monthly magazine titled Devilman×Cutie Honey was released which contains both original artwork of both title characters as well as manga from some of their releases.
  • In CB Chara Go Nagai World, Honey briefly shows up as a minor character.
