Toei Animation is a Japanese animation studio that is owned by Toei Company. It has produced numerous anime titles including the world famous Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach.

HistoryEdit

Originally known as Toei Doga, the studio has worked alongside many notable figures in manga and anime history including Shotaro Ishinomori, Go Nagai, and Leiji Matsumoto. It is noted for helping start the popularity of the Magical Girl and Super Robot genres with programs like Mahotsukai Sally and Mazinger Z.

Dynamic ProductionsEdit

During the 1970s several of the manga by Go Nagai was produced into anime. Unlike most programs adapted from manga such as Dr. Slump or Saint Seiya, rather than full adaptations the anime series featured original stories featuring similar plots but differently played scenarios. Among them are the various Mazinger series, Devilman, Getter Robo, and Cutie Honey.
